Rob is an Edinburgh-based self-shooting producer/director who uses his ability to think differently to others to create content which inspires action.

With a background in the third sector, he spent years working in Sub-Saharan Africa initially in project management and latterly with a focus on communications and marketing. This grounding in the importance of telling stories in a compelling, connective manner naturally evolved into filmmaking.

Combining the twin disciplines of being able to structure a compelling narrative with aesthetic imagery, complimented by a calm and personable temperament, has led to Rob enjoying long term relationships with clients, consistently exceeding their expectations.

As a director he gets the best out of subjects on film, putting them at ease and helping them articulate the message they want to get across.

His work has been seen on the BBC, C4 and by hundreds of thousands of viewers across various social platforms but he’s always looking for the next interesting project to engage the creative engine.

Locate in Midlothian

Locate in Midlothian was set up to promote Midlothian as a county to work in, live in or visit. Rob was commissioned to create two films, one a longer edit with interviews and another shorter piece for social. This involved months of visiting local businesses and activities in the county, showcasing the best it has to offer.

Rob was brought in by creative agency 39 Steps to deliver the video element of a larger campaign for the Institute of Chartered Foresters. The aim was to showcase the breadth of membership and in doing so, encourage more members to become chartered. This is one of six initial filmed produced. The campaign subsequently beat its target ROI by 300%

Red Bull X CaveFit

Red Bull commissioned Rob to film this short piece for their brand partner CaveFit, to mark the return of gyms after the extended period of time closed due to Covid. Highly stylised, we used the gritty industrial image of both the CaveFit facility and the Red Bull wagon to develop a “prison yard” inspired aesthetic. The implication being that freedom to train as a community was being restored.
